Khaleda must resort to legal process to go abroad: Home Minister

If BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has to go abroad for treatment, she will have to resort to the legal process and the court again said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

The minister came up with the remark while responding to a question from reporters at the inaugural function of the delegates' conference of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Khaleda Zia is convicted. At the request of the relatives, arrangements have been made so that there is no difficulty in getting the highest medical care for Khaleda Zia from the country, Kamal said. “The court ensured the arrangement through the decision of the Prime Minister and the legal process.”

“Khaleda Zia is receiving medical treatment. If she wants to go abroad, she has to go to court again through the legal process. We have no way of opening this road without the court’s decision," he said.

The court is independent. It gave its own opinion. She will have to go to court again if he gives any new opinion, added he.

Khaleda Zia was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Evercare Hospital in the capital at Friday midnight.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, the BNP chief has suffered a mild cardiac arrest.
