Bangladeshi-origin Indian youth Sonelia Paul has grown passion towards Bangladesh jersey. Born and raised in Kolkata, she keeps Bangladesh is in her heart. And out of the love towards Bangladesh, she collected the jersey from Nabib Newaj Jibon, the striker for Bangladesh Premier League club Abahani Limited Dhaka.
Sonelia’s grandparents were born and raised in Dhaka. They migrated to India during partition. She fell in love with Bangladesh after hearing the story from them.
She said: “My passion and love for Bangladesh has been created by listening to the stories of grandparents. Bangladesh jersey is my favorite. So, I asked Nabib to bring me a jersey from Bangladesh. It is a great pleasure to have that today.”
However, Sonelia has a bigger identity. She is the future wife of India national team defender and Mohun Bagan captain Pritam Kotal. Her acquaintance with Nabib is through Pritam.
Abahani Limited went Kolkata to play the AFC Cup play-off match against Mohun Bagan.
Abahani and Mohun Bagan will face Salt Lake in Kolkata next Tuesday. The winner of the match will receive a ticket to the group stage of the AFC Cup. Nabib and Pritam will lead the two teams in the survival match. The relationship between the two Bengali footballers off the field is sweet.
