Daily Observer Crime Chief Mamunur Rashid has been elected president while Daily Somoyer Alo Chief Reporter Alamgir Hossain general secretary of Defence Journalists Association of Bangladesh (DJAB) for 2022.
A 13-member DJAB executive committee for the next two years was elected during a programme at a city hotel on Monday, according to a press release.
Chief Election Commissioner of DJAB and also the president of Dhaka Reporters Unity Nazrul Islam Mithu announced the result.
DJAB Election Commissioners--Akter Hossain and Asaduzzaman Biku--were also present.
Other members of the 13-member executive committee are Muhammad Jahangir Alam (vice-president, Tariqul Islam Masum joint secretary, Ahmed Ullah organising secretary, Jamal Uddin finance secretary, Saif Bablu publicity and cultural secretary, Kamal Hossain Talukdar sports and training secretary, Sazzad Mahmud Khan training and research secretary and Ismail Hossain Emu office secretary.
Besides, Masud Karim, Miraj Mizu and Ali Asif Shawon were elected executive committee members.
Among others, Director of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Ibn Zaid, DJAB members, senior officials of the Armed Forces and ISPR were also present on the occasion. Outgoing DJAB president Abul Khair presided over the event.
