South Korea reports 40,842 new COVID-19 cases

On tuesday, South Korea reported 40,842 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infected to 25,396,155, the health authorities confirmed. 

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) the daily caseload was down from 43,759 of the previous day, but it was higher than 29,492 tallied a week earlier. 

For the past week, the daily average number of confirmed cases was 28,877.

Among the new cases, 81 were imported from overseas, lifting the total to 69,432.Twenty-six more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 29,043. The total fatality rate was 0.11 percent.
