Respect the right to peaceful protest: Amnesty International

The international human rights organization Amnesty International said in a statement that the Bangladeshi authorities must respect the right to assemble and protest peacefully.

The statement came after local media reported that "four people were killed after police opened fire on a rally" in Chittagong's Hathazari during clashes over Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh.

Four people were killed in a clash at Hathazari in Chittagong on Friday afternoon after a massive clash in the Baitul Mukarram mosque area in Dhaka.

In protest of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Dhaka, some left and right-wing organizations have been holding various programs for the past few days.
