No oxygen crisis yet, but likely if infection continues increasing: DGHS

There is no oxygen crisis at this moment in the country. However, if the number of patients increases, a potential crisis is likely.

A bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the matter analysing the ongoing pandemic situation in the country.

While replying to queries of newsmen health department spokesperson Md Nazmul Islam said, “A probe body has been formed to enquire the death allegedly caused due to oxygen shortage. Media will be notified as per the probe report.”

“51 percent patients have increased on 26th week of the calendar year in comparison to 25th. The death rate climbs to 46 percent by this time,” he said.

Referring to Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine Nazmul Islam said, “No decision has been taken yet regarding the inoculation of Moderna jab. The health department is working on this issue.”

Mentioning the Bangladeshi citizens stranded in India he said, they can enter the country only through land ports. The entrance is available only three days in a week—Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
