Monwar murder: Death sentence executed four years before hearing

Abdul Mokim and Golam Rasul Jharo, accused in the notorious Monwar murder case in Chuadanga, have been sentenced to death before the appeal hearing. An appeal hearing has been initiated four years post execution of the sentence.

On Wednesday (November 3), the bench headed by the Chief Justice was ranked 11th in the agenda for the hearing. However, no hearing was held.

When the appeal made by the victim's family was finally ready for hearing, the information was revealed from the relatives that the sentence came into effect in 2017, four years ago.

The two accused were hanged at Jessore Central Jail on the night of November 16, 2017. The houses of the two accused are in Durlabhpur village of Kumari union in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga. 

One of them is Abdul Mokim, son of late Murad Ali, the other is Golam Rasul Jharu, son of late Akchhed. They were members of the banned extremist party, the Communist Party of East Bengal.
