Legal moves if extra fare charged at public transport: Minister

Legal actions will be taken if extra fare is charged in public transport, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

He was responding to queries of newsmen after participating in a program held at Tejgaon Women’s College in the capital on Thursday (November 18.)

“We are monitoring the matter of charging an extra fare. The new fare was fixed in meeting between transport owners, workers and the BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority). There is no complexity. If anyone charges extra fare, legal action must be taken,” the home minister said.

Referring to half-pass the minister said, there is no connection between the fuel price hike and half fare, this is an old matter which will be implemented gradually through taskforce.
