Dengue on the rise, 712 hospitalised in 24 hrs

Three dengue patients died while 712 patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country during the past 24 hours (till 8am today).

"As many as 499 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city and 213 were admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka during that time," according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

A total of 67 people died from dengue disease in last ten months of this year 

The first death from dengue was reported on June 21, this year, DGHS data showed.

With new figures, the total numbers of dengue patients this year reached about 20,235 while some 17,752 patients were discharged from health facilities.

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne infection which is common in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies dengue as one of the top 10 threats to public health.
