Covid-19 death toll dwindles drastically

The fatalities in coronavirus reduced drastically in last 24 hours.

As many as 114 people died of the virus taking the tally to 25 thousand 513.

A regular press briefing of the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) disclosed the data on Tuesday.  

“The country reported 15.12 percent COVID-19 positive cases as 34 thousand 708 samples were tested in the past 24 hours," the routine statement read. 

A total of 5 thousand 249 cases have been reported afresh within the same period.

The recovery count rose to 13 lakh 81 thousand 763 after another 8 thousand 907 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning 93.81 percent recovered, while 1.73 percent died.

The DGHS said among the total 25 thousand 513 fatalities, 11 thousand 199 deaths occurred in Dhaka division, 5 thousand 72 in Chattogram, 1 thousand 898 in Rajshahi, 3 thousand 347 in Khulna, 864 in Barishal, 1 thousand 83 in Sylhet, 1 thousand 275 in Rangpur and 775 in Mymensingh division.

After the drastic fall of Covid-19 confirmed cases, the country witnessed sharp increase of infection as 65 thousand 79 cases were reported in March, 2021 and 1 lakh 47 thousand 837 cases in April.

 

The country again witnessed a fall in May, 2021 as it recorded 41 thousand 408 cases. From the beginning of June, 2021, the country recorded a sharp rise with 1 lakh 12 thousand 718 cases, the DGHS said.
