Case filed in Ctg over info minister propaganda

A case has been lodged in a Chittagong police station over spreading propaganda against Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud from London Bangla Channel page on Facebook and YouTube from outside of the country, reports BSS.

Being agitated, Bangladesh Chhatra League's Panchlaish police station Chittagong unit former joint general secretary Masud Rana on Wednesday night lodged a case in Digital Security Act (DSA) with Chawkbazar police station of Chittagong in this connection making admin of London Bangla Channel Abdur Rab Bhutto and the channel as accused.

Manjur Quader Majumder, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chawkbazar police station of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), confirmed it, saying the case was filed in Digital Security Act 2018's section numbers 25 (1) (Ka) (Kha)/26(3)/29(2)/31(3)/35(2).

The plaintiff mentioned in the case that Abdur Rab Bhutto has been spreading anti-state propaganda and rumours for long by opening up a Facebook page London Bangla Channel staying in Dubai.

Recently, Bhutto produced video with false and fabricated contents on Dr Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, and spread the video on Facebook and YouTube, according to the case details. Bhutto also shared the video from his own Facebook account and nine more Facebook accounts.

Masud Rana said: "Thousands of activists and supporters of the information minister like me got agitated witnessing the propaganda."

He said he lodged the case to bring the propagandists to justice.
