Border residents of Teknaf‍‍`s Hoikang and Hnila Unions were jolted awake by the ominous sounds of gunfire and mortar shells once again, reigniting fears and tension in the region.

Reports indicate heavy mortar shelling echoing across various points along the Teknaf border between Thursday, April 11, at 1:00 pm and Friday morning at 9:00 am. According to local accounts, clashes between the Arakan Army and Myanmar government forces have escalated, leaving communities on edge.

The skirmishes have particularly rattled areas such as Huaikong North Para, Lombabil, Unchiprang, Kanjar Para, Hnila, Molvi Para, Wabrang, Phule Dale, Chowdhury Para, and Jalia Para in Teknaf, where the sporadic sounds of bullets and mortar shells have become an unwelcome backdrop.

Moreover, the conflict has spilled over into the villages of Kumirhali, Naichdong, Kwangchigong, Shilkali, and Nafpura, situated to the east of the border between Huaikyong and Hnila, plunging these communities into the throes of civil unrest.
