20-party letters PM seeking permission to take Khaleda abroad

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that the request to take BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia abroad would be sent to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Leaders of the 20-party alliance have handed over a letter to the Home Minister seeking permission to take Khaleda Zia abroad for better treatment.

The Home Minister made the remarks after a delegation of the alliance met him at the Secretariat around 12:30 pm on Sunday (November 21).

The Home Minister said, “A delegation led by the President of Bangladesh Kalyan Party came with a request to take BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad for better treatment. I have kept their application. After completing the activities of the ministry, we will send the application to the Prime Minister's Office. ”

The Home Minister further said, “There is no opportunity to consider this application legally. She (Khaleda Zia) is out of jail for medical reasons for humanitarian reasons. ”

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, “Any specialist doctor from abroad can come here. Our hospitals are well equipped.”

Replying to another question, the Home Minister said, "BNP's peaceful political program is not being hampered. They are holding mass fasting, human chains and prayers. No interruptions are being made. However, any attempt to harm the lives of the people through destructive programs will be quelled. ”

Meanwhile, Kalyan Party Chairman Major General (retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim told reporters, "We have sent a letter to the Prime Minister through the Home Minister requesting him to take BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad for better treatment. The Home Minister has sincerely accepted our request. He said he would send it to the prime minister. "

Syed Ibrahim further said, "Forgetting the political arrogance and bitterness of the past, the government will allow Khaleda Zia to be taken abroad for better treatment."

The 20-party alliance delegation also included National Democratic Party Chairman Qari MA Taher, National People's Party Chairman Dr. Fariduzzaman Farhad, Liberal Democratic Party President Shahadat Hossain Selim and Bangladesh National Party Chairman Advocate Syed Ehsanul Huda.
