PBI starts investigating Tk50 crore defamation case against Mosharraf Karim

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in Cumilla has started the investigation into the defamation case filed against four actors, including Mosharraf Karim, and Boishakhi TV authorities.

Md Mizanur Rahman, the police superintendent of PBI, Cumilla confirmed the matter to the press on Wednesday (August 11).

Alongside Mosharraf and Boishakhi TV, the three other accused in the case include the TV drama director Adibashi Mizan, and actors Md Jamil Hossain and Faruque Ahmed.

On July 18, a Tk50 crore defamation case was filed against popular Bangladeshi actor Mosharraf Karim, a private television channel Boishakhi TV and three others with the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court of Cumilla.

Lawyer Rafiqul Islam Hossaini of Cumilla Bar Association filed the case alleging that they had "defamed, misinterpreted and insulted" lawyers in the drama "High Pressure 2," released on the official YouTube channel of Boishakhi TV back in 2018.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Chandan Kanti Nath accepted the case and asked the Police Bureau of Investigation to probe it and submit a report by July 18.
