Google approves Trump’s Truth Social for play store

On Wednesday, Google announced that it has approved Donald Trump's Truth Social app for inclusion in play Store for Android devices. Google stated this came after getting guarantees that the app would adhere to the platform's policies for controlling dangerous content.

The app was kept out of Google's store because to its lack of moderation capabilities, including for threats of violence. Trump launched the app after being banned from Twitter due to the 2021 Capitol riot.

Since then, according to Google, Truth Social has been upgraded to meet with its regulations prohibiting problematic posts, and it has effective processes in place for reporting and removing objectionable content as well as blocking offenders.

According to the Alphabet-owned tech giant, social apps for Android devices are accessible on the social network's website and other locations that might not follow Google's content control guidelines.

"It's been a pleasure to work with Google, and we're glad they helped us to finally bring Truth Social to all Americans, regardless of what device they use," Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) chief executive said in a released statement.

Truth Social has developed into a safe place for QAnon supporters to communicate conspiracy theories, such as the involvement of prominent Democrats with pedophiles or satanists. Numerous Truth Social accounts were discovered by disinformation watchdog NewsGuard to be resharing QAnon material, with Trump being one of them.
