In a new development, Jatiyo Party chief patron Raushan Ershad said today that she has "relieved" party chairman GM Quader and secretary general Mujibul Haque Chunnu from their positions.
She also declared herself as new chairman of the JP.
Raushan made the announcement while discussing views with the recently relieved and resigned JP leaders.
The event took place in Raushan`s Gulshan residence in Dhaka.
Raushan also announced Kazi Mamunur Rashid as the party`s interim secretary general until a new council is elected.
Meanwhile, JP Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu has called an emergency press conference on the issue at the party chairman`s office in the capita`s Banani area.
With the recent development, JP appears to have split into two factions: one led by GM Quader and the other by Raushan.
