Awami League won’t spare anyone involved in violence, Quader warns partymen

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has warned the leader and activits of the party saying his party will not spare anyone involved in violence.

He also instructed his party fellows not to involve in any violence with BNP as “some scattered” violence may tarnish the government’s image.

The Road Transport and Bridges Minister came up with the warning in a briefing before a joint meeting of the Awami League's presidium, secretariat level leaders, and members of its associate bodies at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka on Monday.

Addressing party fellows, he said: "We will take action if anyone gets involved in violence without the instruction of our leader."

"Awami League does not have any central decision on it and we will not spare anyone who is involved in violence,” he added.

“Neither we will tolerate the scattered incidents which are defaming our party’s and government image,” said the minister.

He further alleged that BNP is committing violence and complaining to foreign embassies every day.

The meeting also decided to hold a discussion meeting on September 28 to celebrate the Birthday of Awamai League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Senior Awami League Leader Matia Chowdhury, Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Kamrul Islam, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Dr Hasan Mahmud, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapon among others were also present in the meeting.
