Awami League General Secretary and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said that the ruling party guards the people while in the other hand BNP spread fear in the name of movement and burn people alive.
He made this comment at the annual general meeting and ananda conference of Abhiniya Shilpi Sangh Bangladesh (Acting Artist Organization in Bangladesh) at International Chain Resort in Gazipur on Saturday.
Obaidul Quader said, "Our experience here is not pleasant. They (BNP) spread panic by talking about movement. Whenever they protest, vandalize and burn people, we stand as safeguards by the general people.”
He said, "The Awami League has been in power for 14 years under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. As the ruling party, it is our responsibility to protect the lives and property of the people of the country. We have to protect people's lives."
He also said that the Awami League programs are not to obstruct the march of BNP, but for the safety of the people.
The Awami League general secretary also said, "As long as this government is in power, no black law will be able to control the acting artists."
Actors Amirul Haque Chowdhury, Sahidul Islam Sacchu, Dolly Zahoor, Dilara Jahan, Mamunur Rashid, Tariq Rahman Khan among others spoke at the opening ceremony chaired by the president of the artists’ organization Ahsan Habib Nasim and moderated by actor Ronak Hasan.
On this occasion, Jaya Ahsan, the popular actress of Bangladesh, presented a memorial and crest to the chief guest of the event Obaidul Quader.
