Hasan finds proposed budget 'pro-poor'

The proposed national budget for the next fiscal year a pro-poor one and is meant to inspire domestic production, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud, reports UNB.

Hasan gave the reaction on Thursday afternoon, after Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed Tk 678,064 crore budget in the Parliament.

He said, “The prices of goods have increased worldwide including Europe and America. From this perspective, none can tell when this economic crisis will end. For this reason, the government has emphasized domestic production. At the same time, the social safety net has been increased for the safety of low-income people. This is a pro-poor budget.”

The minister also slammed those who always make negative remarks about budget.

“Some political parties, organisations, and intellectuals have always been highlighting the negative sides of the budget after its announcement in the parliament. They will always tell the same words. But the reality is Bangladesh has gone forward despite their negative comments and obstacles in the last 13 years,” he added.

Hasan expressed his confidence that Bangladesh’s economy will go forward through this budget despite all obstacles.
