Get hurt by behavior of foreign envoys: Law Minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq said that we got hurt by behavior of foreign diplomats they recently have made over human rights situation in Bangladesh.

He made the comment while speaking at a progrmme in the capital’s Hotel Radisson on Saturday.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) organized the programme.

The Law Minister said, “As a Bangladesh national I got hurt by behavior of them. Whenever they talk over any issue, they should consider depth of Bangladesh’s friendship with their own state and the position.”

Anisul Huq said, “The foreign diplomats appointed in Bangladesh, they do not represent their own countries. If you think that they represent their states, but they do not do that, they should consider depth of Bangladesh’s friendship with their own state and the position. Vienna Convention also states that.”

The Law Minister said, “Bangladesh is an independent and sovereign country. We the government operate the country considering the situation here and how the people wish. As a Bangladesh national, I got hurt by behavior of them they (foreign diplomats) made in the last two or three days.”

When asked about sending some BNP leaders including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul to jail, he said, “I can firmly tell you that the law will take its own course. The government will not interfere on it and still does not do that.”

“I also told whether it is not violation of human rights holding a rally blocking roads and streets. Their countries are sheltering big violators of human rights. Bring them return to the country is very difficult, but we are trying,” he said.
