Counting of votes in the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) election started soon after 4pm on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, voting began at 8am in 480 wards of the city corporation amid a joyful environment, long lines of voters have been witnessed outside polling places.
EVMs, or electronic voting machines, are used for voting. Voters had already come before voting began in the morning, it was discovered during a visit to many polling locations.
Voter lines at every center became longer during the day.
Besides, female voter turnout was observed to be higher than male.
The GCC was in a joyful mood as they focused on the third time election of the city corporation.
Elections are being held without any adverse events but in a calm manner. The administration has implemented strict procedures to avoid disruption during the elections.
