The price of gold will rise by 2.4 percent starting tomorrow due to an increase in the rates of pure gold in the local market, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) said today.

People will have to pay Tk 99,377 per bhori (11.664 grams) . This is an increase of Tk 2,332 from the current price of Tk 97,044 per bhori for 22-carat golds.

BAJUS raised the price a week after lowering its domestic market prices.

The association reduced gold rates in three stages from more than Tk 100,000, which had been in place for more than a month.

The BAJUS also raised gold prices in other grades.

However, the price of 22-carat silver remained steady at Tk 147 per gram or Tk 1,714 per bhori.

It instructed jewelers to hold on to the new rates until further notice. Gold prices have been fluctuating for over a year.
