UP Election: Chairman candidate gunned down in Rajbari

Miscreants gunned down Abdul Latif Mia, a candidate of the fourth phase of Union Parishad elections in Rajbari. Latif Mia was also the former Chairman of Rajbari. 

On Thursday (November 11) at around 12:30 pm, miscreants shot him near his house at the corner of three-way junction in Baibah union. 

Abdul Latif Mia was the president of Banibah Union Awami League in Rajbari Sadar Upazila and a candidate from Awami League for the upcoming union parishad election.  

Locals rescued him from the spot and rushed him to Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical College and Hospital. 

When his condition deteriorated there, he was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for improved treatment. He succumbed to his injuries and died on the way to Dhaka. 

Rajbari ASP said, 'Our police force is on the way to the crime scene. We are trying to investigate the matter and find the motive behind the murder. Primarily, we think the upcoming elections or trade dispute have led to the attack.
