A former general secretary and an ex-organizing secretary of the Lakshmipur district unit of Juba League have been killed in a gun attack by unidentified miscreants.
It is suspected that previous enmity led to the murders.
The former GS, Abdullah Al Noman, died on the spot on Tuesday night while the other, Rakib Imam, succumbed to bullet injuries while on his way to Dhaka.
Additional police members have been deployed in the post at Poddar Bazar where the attack was carried out around 10pm.
Md Mahfuzuzzaman, superintendent of police, said Noman’s body was kept at the Sadar hospital’s mortuary.
“Rakib was first taken to the hospital but he died on the way to the capital,” the SP confirmed, adding that they started operation to identify and arrest the killers.
