Rowshan Ershad named as Japa chairman

Opposition leader of the national parliament and Jatiya Party chief patron Rowshan Ershad has been named as lifetime chairman of the party.

Besides, Japa founder HM Ershads former wife Bidisha Ershad and son Saad Ershad were made cochairman of the party while Kazi Mamunur Rashid has been named as acting secretary general.

Ershad-Bidisha’s son Erik Ershad came up with the new declaration of the party during a programme at President Park in capital’s Baridhara area on Wednesday (July 14) on the occasion of Ershad’s second death anniversary.

However, Rowshan was not present in the occasion due to her illness. But, her son and Rangpur-3 constituency lawmaker Rahgir Al Mahi Saad was present there along with others Japa leaders and activists.

Claiming Japa’s present chairman GM Kader as unlawful Erik Ershad said, “My uncle forcibly became chairman of the party while my father was on deathbed. GM Kader led the party on the brink of collapse. He is an illegal chairman, we don’t accept him anymore.”
