Kiron appointed as acting mayor of Gazipur city

Gazipur City Corporation ward 43 councilor Asadur Rahman Kiron has been appointed as the acting mayor.

Kiron was picked from the three-member panel declared in a gazette notification after Md. Zahangir Alam was sacked.

The local government ministry issued the gazette notification on Thursday (November 25).

“According to the section 20 (2) of the Local Government (City Corporation) Act, 2009 the three-member panel has been nominated,” the notification read.

Apart from Kiron Ward 52 councilor Md. Abdul Alim Molla and reserved seat councilor Ayesha Akter were also included in the panel. 

GCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Aminul Islam said, “A gazette notification was issued by the ministry forming a three-member panel. The person who comes first in the list will be appointed as the acting mayor. The second person will perform if the first person is absent, the third one if requires.”
