A journalist of the Dhaka Tribune was detained by an ASI of Sitakunda police station in Chittagong late on Wednesday.
Md Saidun Nabi was granted bail in a dowry case on March 29 and a copy of that was submitted to the police station the next day.
However, ASI Momin from the police station claimed that they received an arrest warrant on Wednesday afternoon and that is why he detained Nabi around 11:15pm.
The journalist said he repeatedly tried to show Momin a copy of the bail but in vain.
Instead, Momin verbally abused him and snatched his phone before the latter called his sister to inform her that he was being taken to the police station.
At one stage, Nabi revealed his identity and the police officer changed his approach and in a while, released him.
Chittagong's Additional Superintendent of Police (special branch) Abu Tyab Md Arif Hossain said action will taken against Momin if the allegation is proven.
