DMP issues guidelines for 31st night

On the occasion of English New Year (December 31), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken special security measures in several areas including Dhaka University (DU), Hatirjheel, Banani and Gulshan and has also issued guidelines for citizens.

DMP Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam made the announcement at a press conference at the DMP Media Center on Thursday (December 30) afternoon.

The DMP Commissioner said, “Dhaka University is one of the most crowded areas in the capital on the occasion of English New Year. No one, except students, teachers and university officials will be allowed to enter the campus after 8:30 pm.”

He added, “The same guidelines are for Hatirjheel, Banani and Gulshan areas. No one can stay in Hatirjheel after 8:00 pm. Even bikes will not be allowed to enter the area. No outsiders can enter the area except the residents of Gulshan.”

Shafiqul Islam said, like every year, open space programs are prohibited. We also urge citizens to refrain from any holding any gathering or party in rooftops. Hotels who have submitted application to us, will be allowed to hold events.
