Veteran politician and president of Gano Forum/People’s Forum Kamal Hossain has condemned the attack on the leaders of Gono Odhikar Parishad in Tangail.
He described the attack on the leaders of the Gono Odhikar Parishad as a threat to democracy. He called out the attack in a press release published on Wednesday (November 17).
Criticizing the attack, Dr. Kamal Hossain said, 'The sudden attack on the leaders of Gono Odhikar Parishad is a serious threat and indignity to democracy. The right to move freely and to organize in a democratic state is a fundamental right recognized by the constitution.
"We may have policy differences and differences with Reza Kibria and VP Noor, leaders of the Gano Odhikar Parishad, but the People's Forum condemns such attacks on them in a democratic state," Kamal said in a statement.
He demanded the government to bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice.
Reza Kibria, convener of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, member secretary and former vice-president (VP) of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union Nurul Haque and his associates were attacked while paying homage at Maulana Bhasani's tombstone at 12:15 pm on Wednesday (November 17).
