3 held over hacking Swapno super shop’s digital system

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has detained three people for reportedly involved in grabbing taka 18 lakh hacking the digital system of Swapno, countries one of the top chain super shop.

DMP’s Deputy Inspector Generalalso chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC), Asaduzzaman, told this to media during a press conference held at DMP media centre in the capital on Sunday (August 8).

Swapno officials filed a case with Tejgaon industrial police station under section 18, 23, 34 and 35 of Digital Securty Act, Asaduzzaman said.  

On allegation, Md. Nasimul Islam (23) was arrested in Gaibandha on Saturday night while Rehanur Hasan Rashed (22) and Raisul Islam (25) were caught in Mirpur of Dhaka.

As many as six mobile phones, two laptops, crypto currencies, hand cash, electronic cards and huge amount of products bought with Swapno e-voucher were recovered from the detainees.  

“The nexus hacked Swapno’s digital security system, made e-voucher and sold them to e-commerce users at 25 per cent discount,” the police official said.

The gang grasped huge of amount of money and converted to crypto currency. The devices which were seized during the accused wre arrested revealed information of crypto currency transection worth taka 20 lakh, added he.

The accused hacked several other companies like airlines, bus services, electronic gadgets and chain outlets, Asaduzzaman furthered.
