First Bangladeshi named ILA 30 under 30 list

Ahmed Imtiaz Jami, President at OBHIZATRIK Foundation, is one of 30 literacy leaders named to the International Literacy Association’s (ILA) 2023 30 Under 30 list.

This year’s global list celebrates rising leaders and visionaries in the literacy field from 15 countries who are working to advance literacy practices and create more equitable learning environments across the globe.

This is the first time; any Bangladeshi has made into the ILA global list.

The 29-year-old of Mirpur, Dhaka, was recognized for spreading the light out knowledge for the grass root population of the country, Bangladesh. These underprivileged children would otherwise be in the streets facing the everyday struggle of survival.

From a very young age, Ahmed Imtiaz Jami has won several awards for his achievements that centers around the citizens of Bangladesh. Some of the mentioned prestigious awards include Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020, Young Humanitarian of the Year 2021, Asian Youth Advocates award 2021, TIAW World of Difference Award 2022 and Forbes 30 Under 30 2021.

“When establishing OBHIZATRIK Foundation, my sole purpose was to liberate Bangladesh from the various socio-economic obstacles it has been facing since its independence. My reliance and believe upon myself and the youths of the country has brought me to this stage. “My purpose is to bringing positive change in the lives of the underprivileged and is to changing Bangladesh.”- says Ahmed Imitaz Jami. 

JAMI joins a growing cohort of education leaders. Past honorees include Akash Patel, Spanish teacher and founder of Happy World Foundation; Allister Chang, founder of Civic Suds; and Shiza Shahid, cofounder of the Malala Fund.
