Two trucks were set on fire by miscreants in Dhaka and Chattogram amid the 48-hour countrywide road-rail-waterway blockade enforced by BNP and other like-minded opposition parties.

A truck was set on fire in Dohar Bazar area of Dhaka.

The incident was reported around 10:00pm, said Talha Bin Zashim, station officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence‍‍`s media cell.

Two fire fighting units of Dohar fire station rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

Meanwhile, a truck carrying TCB goods was set on fire in Chattogram this evening.

The incident took place in Badurtala area of Panchlaish police station area of the city.

Santosh Kumar Chakma, officer-in-charge (OC) of Panchlaish Police Station, said the truck was carrying rice, pulses and other consumer goods.

These products were being sold at a fair price under the supervision of Md. Morshed Alam, councillor of Shulkabahor ward of Chattogram City Corporation, according to Panchlaish police.

“The truck was parked on the side of the road. The driver was standing outside. At that moment, some miscreants poured fuel oil into the driver’s seat and set it on fire,” said OC Santosh.

The fire was doused quickly with the help of locals.

Panchlaish police station OC said the miscreants couldn’t be identified as they escaped the scene quickly.

"We are trying to identify those involved in the incident,” he said.
