Sedition charge filed against Nur in Sylhet

A sedition complaint has been filed against Nurul Haque Nur, former vice president (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) and leader of Bangladesh Gono Odhikar Parishad, with a police station in Sylhet.

Emon Ahmed, secretary of the district unit of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Mancha, filed the complaint with Kotwali Police on Sunday afternoon.

Nur held a secret meeting with an individual named Mendi N. Safadi, apparently an agent of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the complaint said.

It seems that Nur has been involved in a conspiracy to topple the elected government in Bangladesh, it added.

It also said he is actually conspiring to create division among Bangladesh, its government and the holy religion Islam by shaking hands with the Mossad agent going abroad in the name of holy Kaaba Sharif Tawaf.

Md Abul Kaher, inspector (Investigation) of Kotwali police station, however, said this type of case cannot be filed by an individual without the permission of the state.
