Amar Bangladesh Party, AB Party, held a sit-in protest on Monday afternoon at Bijoy 71 square, close to its central office, demanding resignation of this unelected government and suspension of the farcical election in January 2024.

AFM Sulaiman Chowdhury, a retired bureaucrat and Convenor of AB Party, warned this illegal government that none, including the Election Commission and associated electoral administration, would be spared from the public anger if this one-sided election goes ahead.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Minar, a Joint Convenor, said that this government became blind and reckless while dealing with the nation’s economy and trade. It shows that PM and her cohorts are not sane enough to run this country.

Adv. Tajul Islam, a Joint Convenor, said, this government had destroyed every institutions including judiciary, apparently the last bastion of hope. Night time trial court have been sitting to convict opposition leaders is a sign of unholy omen.

Mojibur Rahman Monju, Member Secretary, said, the ruling party has been busy celebrating the forthcoming farcical election amidst voters apathy and unprecedented level of insecurity for opposition activists. It wouldn’t last long.

Asaduzzaman Fuaad, a barrister-at-law and Joint Member Secretary of AB Party, criticised the recent detention of teachers and concerned guardians who protested against the endless changes to school curriculum which children, students and teachers were unable to follow and cope with. Highly controversial academics were engaged in the process of writing books and devising curriculum which have repeatedly proved to have been harmful for the future citizens; it is as if killing the future of millions of our teenagers which the education ministers had no mandate to undertake.
