BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said on Thursday that the democratic countries are keeping a closer watch on Bangladesh regarding next elections.

"In the upcoming election, anyone attempting to manipulate the process will face severe consequences," said the BNP leader while addressing a rally organised by Dhaka district BNP at Aminbazar in Dhaka.

The BNP leader also demanded unconditional release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and resignation of the Awami League government.

"They are being warned time and again that those involved, whether directly or indirectly, in election fraud, cannot escape the consequences," Khasru, a BNP standing committee member, said.

“Everyone is becoming increasingly concerned. While they may appear courageous outwardly, their inner resolve is far from steadfast."

Referring to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s selfie with US President Joe Biden, he said: "While all the world leaders have already returned to their respective countries following the United Nations General Assembly in Washington, the Prime Minister of our unelected government is still in Washington."

“You can imagine how dire the situation is! Even the simple act of taking selfies isn‍‍`t yielding results,” he said adding, “the international community has now realised the true colour of Awami League."

During his address, the BNP leader called for the resignation of the government.

“Election must be conducted under a neutral government

the nation can have an elected government and parliament that will be answerable to the people," Khasru said.

Presided over by Dhaka district BNP president Khandaker Abu Ashraf and moderated by Dhaka district BNP general secretary Ripon Roy, the rally was also addressed by BNP standing committee member Selima Rahman.
