The Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a three-day blockade from Tuesday to Thursday in solidarity with the BNP.

Maulana ATM Masum, the party‍‍`s acting secretary general announced the program in a statement on Monday.

He said that a number of opposition parties, such as the BNP and Jamaat, had protests in Dhaka on Saturday and that law enforcement "kicked leaders and activists out of the peaceful gatherings instead of working with them to implement them."

"After removing them from buses, launches, and trains, they searched leaders and activists attending the rallies and arrested them in large numbers.

"Law enforcement forces disrupted the opposition parties‍‍` peaceful rallies by using tear gas shells and charging attendees with batons, after Awami League men attacked them. Thousands of activists were injured, and four people—including a journalist and a BNP activist—were killed. There have been almost 2,000 arrests of opposition party leaders and activists", he added.

The BNP on Sunday announced an all-out nationwide blockade for three days starting on Tuesday to protest police attacks on Saturday‍‍`s rally, senior leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir‍‍`s arrest, and harassment in the midst of its ongoing one-point movement demanding the resignation of the government.
