The Election Commission (EC) has been 'preliminarily very satisfied' with Awami League candidate Azmat Ulla Khan's statement regarding the violation of code of conduct in the Gazipur City Corporation election. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said this. He said that the commission has not yet taken any decision on Azmat Ullah. However, the EC will not conduct any further investigation on the matter.
CEC Kazi Habibul Awal said these things to reporters on Sunday afternoon at the Agargaon election building in the capital.
Earlier, Azmat Ullah Khan appeared before the Election Commission and gave his explanation regarding the violation of the code of conduct.
Azmat Ullah Khan said to the reporters after the hearing, “I was given two letters. I have clarified my position on the clauses mentioned therein. Not only as a candidate, but as a citizen of the country, I will give all possible cooperation to ensure that an election is free, fair and acceptable."
