PM urges to take action against eager crowd in cyclone

Tourists are taking selfies on the beach even in disasters like Cyclone Mocha. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also noticed the matter. In that incident, she asked the state minister for disaster management and relief, Md. Enamur Rahman to take action.

The state minister said this in response to a question from journalists in the briefing on the information of the cyclone in the conference room of the ministry today.

The state minister said, "We have seen what people were doing and spoken to the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Department. He then directed the BGB, Tourist Police, Naval Police." Everyone and with everyone's efforts managed to get them back to the hotel.

The state minister said, "No one was in a dangerous place. Even yesterday at 9:30 PM, the Prime Minister called me to say that people are still taking selfies and having fun at the beach; the situation needs to be controlled. BGB vacated the beach after we spoke to the DC later."

More than 30,000 eager people flocked to Cox's Bazar beach to watch the sea swell under the influence of Mocha. Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) patrolled to remove them from the beach. BGB members intensified patrolling from 5 pm yesterday. But after a while, the tourists went down to the beach again.

The state minister said that the number of sheltered people has exceeded 7 lakhs due to the cyclone. He said, this year's preparation and management is the best.
