State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, Matarbari deep sea port has become visible. The operational activities of the port will start in 2026.
“For this purpose, the construction work of jetty and container yard will be started by next July. Large feeder vessels will come here which will save money and time,” the minister added.
"It will have a positive effect on the economy. A developed and smart Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be built by 2041 and surpass Singapore."
Khalid came up with this while visiting the Matarbari deep sea port site on Sunday with a delegation of Shipping Reporters' Forum of Bangladesh (SRFB) and also a group of journalists from Chittagong.
Member of Parliament Ashek Ullah Rafiq, Chairman of Chittagong Port Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, Project Coordinator of Matarbari Port Project Md Yusuf were present among others.
