BCB Enlists a Psychologist to Enhance Mental Fitness of Cricketers

Aiming to bolster not just physical prowess but also mental resilience, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has enlisted the services of a psychologist for a week.

This move seeks to enhance the players‍‍` mindset and subsequently elevate their performance.

While this approach is commonplace in Western countries and other cricket-playing nations, it remains relatively new to Bangladesh. However, the BCB‍‍`s utilization of psychological training for cricketers is not unprecedented.

Dr. Phil Jauncey, the appointed psychologist, had previously collaborated with the Bangladesh team ahead of the 2015 World Cup.

Now, eight years later, he returns to enhance the mental agility of Bangladeshi cricketers.

Primarily focusing on the mental aspects of the players, Dr. Jauncey aims to equip them with the tools to manage their mindsets effectively, thereby optimizing their performance.

A source from the BCB‍‍`s cricket operations department revealed that Dr. Jauncey, a seasoned sports psychologist, will work individually with players to enhance their performance, reports UNB.

Currently, the Bangladesh team is gearing up for the Asia Cup, scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan later this month. Subsequently, they will face New Zealand at home, their final international assignment before the World Cup set to take place in India later this year.
