Habibur Rahman, an additional Inspector General of Police (IGP), has been appointed as the new commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Home ministry`s public security division issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.
According to the circular, which was signed by deputy secretary Sirajum Munira, the appointment will take effect right now.
Khandker Golam Faruq`s replacement, Habibur, who is now in charge of the Tourist Police, will take over from him.
