Attacks on on-duty newsmen protested

Several organizations of journalists today came down heavily on BNP for carrying out attacks on on-duty newsmen as around 30 journalists came under attacks while collecting information, photographs and audio-visuals during the violence carried out by BNP men.
 
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Jatiya Press Club, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and Dhaka Reporters‍‍` Unity (DRU) issued separated statements condemning the attacks on journalists.
 
In its statement, the BFUJ said, of the injured, five have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. During the attack, video cameras, mobile phones of journalists were snatched away and broken by the BNP men, the statement also said.
 
BFUJ president Omar Faruque and secretary general Dip Azad demanded immediate arrest of the culprits who were involved with the attacks to ensure exemplary punishment to them. 
 
In the statement, they said BNP and Jamaat men got agitated when journalists were taking videos of setting fire on vehicles and carrying out arson attacks by BNP activists during their rally and they carried out the attacks on the on-duty journalists.
 
Jatiya Press Club president Farida Yasmin and general secretary Shyamal Dutta, DUJ president Sohel Haider Chowdhury and general secretary Akter Hossain, DRU president Mursalin Nomani and acting general secretary Mainul Ahsan also protested and condemned the attacks on journalists.
