Pakistan puts Imran Khan, wife Bushra and over 80 members of his party on no-fly list

Former Pakistan Chief Minister Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi and 80 other members of his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), have been put on a no-fly list, sources said the Dawn on Thursday.

The development comes amid speculation of a possible ban on his political party, following the attacks by his supporters on military installations. On Wednesday, Imran Khan addressed the people of Pakistan, and said that a massive crackdown is underway on his party, reports India Today.

On Thursday (May 25), Imran Khan took to Twitter and alleged that the government of Pakistan is trying to dismantle the party. "Today the largest and the only Federal party is facing the full fury of state power without any accountability. Over 10,000 PTI workers and supporters in jail including senior leadership and some facing custodial torture," he tweeted.

In one of his earlier addresses, Imran Khan had said he is ready to constitute a committee for talks with "anyone who is in power today”. On May 9, violent protests erupted after the arrest of Khan by paramilitary Rangers.

Imran Khan is facing the heat for how PTI supporters engaged in widespread violence earlier this month. Several military installations, including the Army headquarters in Rawalpindi, were attacked by the mob. Police put the death toll in violent clashes at 10.
