King Charles lll takes oath

Charles III has been sworn in as the 40th heir to the British monarchy. Queen Consort Camilla, wife of Charles, was also crowned at the same time.

The ceremony started today at 10 am local time (4 pm Bangladesh time). Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby conducted the oath taking ceremony for King Charles.

The archbishop told the king that the coronation oath has legal requirements, and that the new king should uphold the rule of law and the dignity of the Church of England during his reign.

King Charles III swore an oath on the Holy Gospel and pledged to uphold the rule of law and the dignity of the Church of England.

In addition, King Charles III also took a second oath as a ‍‍`devout Protestant‍‍`.

Earlier, British King Charles III and his wife Queen Consort Camilla arrived at Westminster Abbey in the United Kingdom to attend the coronation ceremony. They arrived at Westminster Abbey in a horse-drawn carriage from Buckingham Palace.

Leaders and celebrities from the UK as well as abroad have also gathered to Westminster Abbey to attend the coronation of King Charles. About 100 heads of state and world dignitaries attended the event.
