King Charles III will ascend the British throne today as the 40th King of Britain. 70 years later, the King will be inaugurated in a grand ceremony at London‍‍`s Westminster Abbey today morning. King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla are already preparing to go to Westminster Abbey, reports BBC News.

The inauguration ceremony will begin at 11 am local time. Before that, the royal motorcade will leave Buckingham Palace for Westminster Abbey. This inauguration ceremony will last for about 2 hours. About 2300 guests will attend the event.

This will be the first time Prince Harry will bee seen in public with his brother Prince William, the Prince of Wales, since the publication of the memoir. But he is expected to return to the United States a few hours after the event. There he will be reunited with his wife Megan.

Crowds have already started gathering on the procession route despite the forecast of rain. Thousands of people and royal well-wishers thronged the Mall, White Hall and Parliament Square in central London to watch the debut live for the first time in 70 years. Many people have been pitching their tents since yesterday to watch the event. 

Charles took over as king after Queen Elizabeth II died in September last year. The British monarch is also the head of the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth of Nations comprising 56 independent states has a population of about 250 crores.
