Landslide in Brazil, 8 dead

At least eight people have been killed in a landslide in Brazil. Among them includes a duo of mother-daughter and four children. Several people are still buried under the ruins. The landslide destroyed many houses and roads were damaged.

The landslide occurred in the eastern part of Manaus, the capital of the country's Amazon province, on Monday. A state of emergency has been declared in the region near the Amazon following the disaster.

According to the report of the British news agency Reuters, this landslide occurred due to continuous heavy rains for several days. Rescue teams are unable to reach the accident site to carry out rescue operations due to a breakdown of the communication system. Local volunteers are continuing the rescue work. They have already found several bodies. Many people might still remain buried under the remains. The search for missing people and survivors continues.

Unfortunately, Brazil has recently seen a number of terrible weather calamities. On February 23, heavy rains caused floods and landslides in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo. About 46 people died in it. Earlier, on January 28 of last year, 19 people died in a landslide, and on February 16 of that same year, around 100 people were killed in floods and landslides in this country.
