State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury has directed for a thorough inspection of water routes and the condition of river ports to ensure the well-being of the people.

The State Minister made these remarks during a meeting with the newly elected officers of the BIWTA Officers Association at his residence on Minto Road in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Highlighting the significance of the BIWTA Officers Association, he emphasized that the overall development and character of BIWTA depend on the officers of this association. He acknowledged that while development work progresses, questions may arise about its appropriateness. However, he stressed that the government‍‍`s responsibility is to guide, and everyone should align their efforts accordingly.

Furthermore, the State Minister underscored the importance of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman‍‍`s legacy, stating, "Bangabandhu belongs to all of us. After 1975, the Awami League took up the mantle of Bangabandhu. However, before 1971, Bangabandhu belonged to everyone, irrespective of party affiliation."

Addressing the need for unity and support to advance, he emphasized Bangabandhu‍‍`s role as a guiding force, urging adherence to his vision for the country‍‍`s progress. He emphasized the centrality of the liberation war and Bangabandhu‍‍`s ideology, urging all to act in accordance with these ideals.

The meeting was attended by the newly elected President Rakibul Islam Talukder and General Secretary AKM Arif Uddin, along with other members of the 25-member Executive Council of the BIWTA Officers Association.
