Shamim Osman can’t join campaign as per election code: Ivy

According to the election code of conduct Shamim Osman can’t take part in election campaign, said Awami League nominated mayoral candidate in Narayanganj Selina Hayat Ivy.

She came up with the remark during an election campaign in the city on Tuesday.

While reacting to rival Taimur Alam Khandaker’s allegation of establishing supremacy by the ruling party backed aspirant, Ivy said, she doesn’t have any manpower or administration to do so.

“I don’t influence the election. The people of Narayanganj know me for 18 long years. They saw me. Whatever I say, I say publicly. I also participated in two more city polls. None can say that I showed supremacy ever. He (Taimur) is conducting the election campaign as I am too. But, what is going around, I don’t know; even I don’t want to know. Right now, I am busy with the people. I am visiting their doorsteps,” Ivy said.

Referring to the allegation of Taimur Alam Khandaker regarding arrest and harassment Ivy said, “People of this city know me. I neither have the manpower nor administration to establish supremacy. Certainly, the administration dwells on specific strategy in every election. What are they (admin) doing, I don’t have any idea. This is none of my business what the rival candidate is saying. If anything happened, the administration must look into.”

Asking question Ivy said, “I don’t know why he (Taimur) raised such allegation. Probably, this is a trick.”
