RAB DG to take over as next IGP

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun is all set to become the next inspector general of police (IGP), according to media reports.

 Meanwhile, the name of an additional IGP has been proposed as the RAB chief's successor. 

This comes as the tenure of IGP Benazir Ahmed reportedly ends on September 30. 

Abdullah Al Mamun, who repviosly served as the additional IGP,  had taken office as the DG of the elite force on April 15, 2020.

He joined Bangladesh Police as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1989. He is an officer of BCS 1986 batch.

He was promoted to the position of additional IGP on May 2019.

He served important positions in various police units and organizations including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
