In a speech delivered at Bangabhaban, President Mohammed Shahabuddin called on affluent members of society to support the less fortunate and celebrate the joy of Eid-ul-Fitr collectively, bridging the gap between the rich and the poor.

During the address, President Shahabuddin extended his warmest Eid greetings to Bangladeshis at home and abroad, as well as to people worldwide, on one of Islam‍‍`s most significant festivals. He highlighted the ongoing global strife, particularly mentioning the hardships faced due to conflict such as that in Palestine. "It is our moral duty as humans to provide support wherever possible and work towards alleviating this pain," he stated.

The President emphasised the importance of shared joy, stating that sorrow might be endured alone, but joy requires companionship.

He envisioned Eid as a catalyst for fostering bonds of friendship, harmony, and unity among all people and implored that the lessons of Eid-ul-Fitr contribute to building a prosperous Bangladesh.

Echoing the principles of Islam, President Shahabuddin reminded all that the religion promotes peace, welfare, human values, equality, and mutual coexistence. He called upon citizens to ensure that no neighbour, relative, or friend feels excluded from the festivities of Eid.

Further, he urged collective efforts to achieve a hunger-free, poverty-free, and prosperous ‍‍`Smart Bangladesh‍‍` and realise the ‍‍`Sonar Bangla‍‍` dream of Bangabandhu.

The Eid celebrations at Bangabhaban were marked by the exchange of greetings between the President, his wife Dr. Rebeka Sultana, and guests from diverse sectors including senior politicians, the Chief Justice, cabinet members, diplomats, freedom fighters, and cultural and educational figures. The event featured an array of traditional foods, celebrating Bangladesh‍‍`s rich culinary heritage.

Earlier in the day, President Shahabuddin performed Eid prayers at the National Eidgah where he prayed for the nation‍‍`s peace and prosperity, the wellbeing of its people, and the global Muslim community. Post-prayer, he mingled with attendees, spreading Eid cheer among the congregation.

Accompanying the President were Minister of Religion Md. Faridul Haque Khan, MP, and other key secretaries of Bangabhaban, all sharing in the day‍‍`s solemn yet festive observances.
